Vietnam has joined the Hague Apostille Convention. The Convention entered into force for Vietnam on 11 September 2026, so UK public documents for use in Vietnam now only need a UK Apostille from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). Consular legalisation at the Vietnamese Embassy is no longer needed.

Since 11 September 2026 the Vietnam Embassy in London no longer accepts consular legalisation of UK public documents. Documents that were already legalised through the embassy before that date remain valid for use in Vietnam.

If your document is not written in Vietnamese, a Vietnamese translation may be required. The translation must be notarised or certified in line with Vietnamese law, so please ask us before you send your documents.
