Apostille Direct London provides consular legalisation for documents that need to be used in Qatar, which is not a member of the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention. This means your UK document must be certified by the FCDO and then further legalised by the Qatar embassy or consulate in London before it will be accepted.

Legalisation requirements for Qatar

Document for use in Qatar first needs to be legalised by way of FCDO Apostille and then submitted to the Consulate of Qatar for further attestation.

The Consulate accept submission and return of documents via postal service only.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Foreign documents ARE NOT accepted, EXCEPT documents issued in the Republic of Ireland, Norway, Iceland, Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Channel Islands and British Overseas Territories, which must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the respective country of origin prior to submitting to the consular section of the Embassy of Qatar in London for further legalisation.

Documents from the British Overseas Territories must be first Apostilled in the region of origin and then further Apostilled by the UK FCDO prior to submitting to the Consulate of Qatar.

TIME AND FEES

Qatar doesn't accept an apostille on its own. Each document needs three steps, in this order: (1) certification by a UK solicitor, unless the FCDO will accept the original as it is; (2) an FCDO apostille; (3) legalisation by the Qatar Embassy in London. Each document has to be done separately. The embassy sets different rules for personal, educational and commercial documents. If a document doesn't meet them, the embassy will refuse it, so check its document legalisation page before you send anything. Once in Qatar, documents may also need attesting by the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
